Your Questions About Crocheting

Maria asks…
“As I Watch Lovers Walk By” ……….a poem, what do you think?
.
.
As I Watch Lovers Walk By
As I fondly watch lovers walking by
I’ve seen how their affection they did show
Language their bodies speak, decipher I
For acts that, soon or might not, they’ll pursue
In opportune times
They’ll have, which I could only wish to know
One pair passed by, while hand in hand they’re bound
Waltzing to tune that only they could hear
Their hearts humming the rhapsody they owned
While, as I sensed, they’re walking in the air
Hoping, as they were
To claim some parts of Heaven as their share
Another pair just each other peruse
Then whiled away the nervous hour in food
But soon employed their mouths to other use
While speechless, they have said enough, and good
Was it ever told?
Silence is golden, that, I understood
Behind a hedge a pair is closeted
It’s Paradise beneath that apple tree
“My, oh my, that embrace,” I jested
“Reminds me of my grandmother’s crochet”
For once, you’ll agree
Birds got to soar up high when they are free
And now to look for love to own, I’ll try
A fine young lass to whom I might relate
Who also watches lovers walking by
I pray that somewhere down the lane we’ll meet
For once, someone great
Did pray, “Lord give me chastity, not yet.”

One of the most beguiling two lines in a poem I have ever read !
Like a public display of affection

Linda asks…
i need hellp!!! pleaseee, boy troubleee?
okay so here’s some background: i go out with this guy, lets call him bob. me and bob are in middle school, and we’ve gone out 2ce b4 (one time it lasted 2 months, the 2nd time it was 3 days) we got back together. he crochets (lol, hes nott a fag, hes actually really cool) and hes super sweet. right b4 we got back together he sent me a text saying ‘if You ever love me again, just tell me because i still love you, ive never gotten over u, and if u ever want someone to comfort you and hold u and tell u they love you, just call me and i’ll be there’ hes realllly sweet.
okay so idk if he really likes me or not, he says sometimes he feels like i don’t Love him, but i do, sooooo much. sometimes i have mood swings and i feel like i don’t though, but i do, with al of my heart, i love him. so any ideas on how i can show him i love him a lott?
oh and i have no idea what to get him for christmas, and its a few days away!! :/ any ideas anyone?
thanks for reading all of this(:

Hmm tough question. Well,to be honest only you can decide whether to give him another chance. I can’t help you there, sorry. You know him better than i. But i am in sorta the same situation (you so don’t wanna hear it. I know) and i can tell you that from what you’ve written, he seems like a pretty sweet guy. Or a smoothtalker ( you know, the ones who’ll say anything to get anything they can.) but again, only you can be the judge of that.
mainly, follow you heart. If you trust him, then go for it. And as for the christmas thing, ask him. Never goes wrong. And if you dont wanna do that, then make him a little card or a book out of construction paper with a bunch of inside jokes and photos. THAT never fails. Trust me. Anyway, i hope this helped. Let me know if you have any questions.

Daniel asks…
Would people actually buy this?
My town has an arts and crafts fair every year, and it had just recently past. I was talking to people about it, how I wanted to be in it but I was too young to get a booth. They asked me to show them some stuff that I had made. They said, it was good, they’d help me to get a booth. I wanted to make some simple stuff, like red felt hearts and little doll pillows sewn by hand, and sell those at the fair. Do you think people would by them? And if not, then what could I make instead? Try to keep it easy, I’m 14 and I have to sew by hand (sewing machine’s broken). And I can’t knit or crochet.
and no websites.

admin answers:
Try to get in with someone else to share a booth..display your doll pillows with a doll to make it attractive. Something that you can make and is popular with all teens are friendship bracelets. Ones made of hemp (inexpensive and can sometimes find at the dollar store) with one nice bead in the middle is easy and look great. They can be made quickly and will add to the items you are already making to attract more business for you. Hang them up to display them and make them in different lengths to fit all sizes and ages.Try adding magnets to the back of the hearts for lockers..you can think of all kinds of designs for locker magnets..popular for teen girls and also inexpensive to make. Try working with the foam board for this too and make sure the magnets can hold up a picture (display this too to give the teens some ideas). Good luck with your new venture and hope you do well. Finding a person with a booth already will really help you out as you will only need a small space…many will be happy to help you out and you could help them carry and set up their items in exchange for your space..try suggesting this.

Mandy asks…
How do you sew those pre-cut plastic canvas shapes?
This may be a silly question, but I have seen the pre-cut plastic canvas shapes in the store in shapes like hearts and stars and circles. They look cute enough to make a few ornaments for my tree, but I don’t see any instructions on them as to the correct way to sew yarn or metallic thread through them. Is there a specific way your supposed to thread the yarn through them to get the best possible look? Are there instructions to these somewhere that I missed? I do sew and crochet and knit so I am not totally without any craft background, but I wanted to make sure I brought out the best in these if I tried some. I was even thinking of adding small beads or sprinkling a little glitter on them after they’re done. Thanks.

I used to do these all the time! They do make good ornaments!
There’s several methods, but this is the one I prefer:
TIP: give yourself plenty of yarn to start with, you don’t want to have to tie on extra because it’s difficult to conceal the knot.
1. When you thread the yarn through the first hole, leave a “tail” and don’t bother tying a knot or anything. (you’ll just have to be careful not to pull the tail through while doing your first row.)
2. Begin sewing by weaving the yarn or thread in and out, every 3-4 horizontal holes. So that when you reach the end of the first row it will look something like this: —–(yarn)[][][][](plastic canvas) —- [][][][] (you get the idea lol)
3. When you reach the last hole in the row, sew back to the beginning, sewing the opposite way, so the en result should look like: ————————————-[] (no plastic canvas showing on either side accept in the last hole on the end, since there was no way to double that one, but we’ll fix that in the last step.)
4.when you get back to the starting point of the row, just drop your thread down one row, and start the process again.
This last part can be done one of two ways:
If your thread isn’t terribly thick:
then you should have enough room so that on the last row you can go from left to right, then right to left, then take it once more left to right, wen you get to the last square of the last row, begin sewing from the bottom up to the top, this will fill in that last square in every row that didn’t get it’s double stitch, (told you we’d fix it!) when you get to the last square of the top row, make another tail, and tie it to the starting tale, this will be the loop you use to tie it on the tree.
If your yarn is too thick for that method:
On the next to last row sew once left to right, and on the last square drop it down to the last square of the last row, and whip stitch the 2nd to last and last rows until you get to the first square of the last row, then sew from left to right like you did all the other rows.when you get to the last square of the top row, make another tail, and tie it to the starting tale, this will be the loop you use to tie it on the tree.
There’s another method that involves doing the whole canvas left-right top-bottom, then turning around and doing it the opposite way once you reach the last square in the bottom row, it’s essentially the same concept, but I found that it always took longer, and was easier to mess up on (too much yarn and canvas messing with your eyes lol)
good luck and have fun! This is a neat project to do.
After some practice you may even get brave enough to try doing patterns in different colors, i.e. A poinsetta shape where the outside is done in red, and the center is done in yellow. My grandma was good at that, I was never that good lol
